Activities
There is a lot to do around the exhibition. Every second Friday of the month we organize an evening program - Lakenhal Laat - with performances, artist talks, speed lectures, workshops and live music. Guidance of the lights
For years Studio DRIFT (Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta) has been asking fundamental questions about life with sculptures, installations and performances. In 2021, Lonneke Gordijn felt a need to reflect on her own work and working methods. Together with Andrea Evers, professor of health psychology at Leiden University, she delved into the theme of intuition. From an intensive dialogue between the artist and scientist, a new installation emerged: Guidance of the lights.

Domènchi - Don't Mention
A film director and visual artist: Kevin Osepa is a storyteller. His identity is shaped by the spirituality, rituals and culture of Curaçao. In a wall-sized installation, he explores the concept of intuition from his family history and his fascination with intuitively giving meaning to everyday products.
Jos Agasi
Under the skin
Coincidence and time are the main aspects of visual artist Jos Agasi's installation. For Imagine Intuition, Agasi juxtaposes different sides of his experience. On one side you can see his calm inner mind, on the other the turmoil caused by external influences. They meet in the middle, on a sculpturally shaped biocanvas grown by Agasi himself.
Bram Ellens
Mother and child
The relationship between humans, robots and technology is central to Bram Ellens' sculptures. In them, he ascribes human or animal values to machines. His installations rarely leave spectators indifferent. In Imagine Intuition, Ellens opts for the classic representation of mother and child, which he sees as a primal image for intuitive relationships and communication. This is the first time Ellens has allowed two robots to interact: a technically exciting exercise.
Dikker+Oostrik
Harmonic Dissonance: Phantom Body
The installations of cognitive neuroscientist Suzanne Dikker and artist Matthias Oostrik exist by the grace of visitors. In the agile and interactive presentations, art and science flow together. Their new installation Harmonic Dissonance: Phantom Body explores the paradox of the (im)measurability of the intuitive body.
Janet Vollebregt
Tune in Portal II + You are present
Janet Vollebregt wants to offer people environments or atmospheres where they can find peace, and at the same time become aware of the fact that everything is connected. Her design philosophy is rooted in her technical training in architecture as well as in her lifelong study and practice of Eastern and Western philosophy and therapy. For this project, she realised two installations: one as an entrance to the museum and one as the conclusion of the exhibition.
art and science
This exhibition is a special intertwining of scientific and artistic research. This is reflected in the collaboration between artists and academics in the realization of new works. During Imagine Intuition Andrea Evers, professor of health psychology at Leiden University, explores how artists and scientists today think about intuition and how they represent it in their work.
This exhibition is organized by Museum De Lakenhal in the context of European City of Science Leiden 2022.
This exhibition is curated by curator of contemporary art Nicole Roepers. Form concept by Anton Spruit. Imagine Intuition was realised in the context of European City of Science Leiden 2022 and partly in collaboration with Andrea Evers, professor of health psychology.
