Talk & music
Jaasir Linger invites Winti priestess Nana Efua (Marian Markelo). In his work, he explores Surinamese cultural heritage and the traditional Afro-Surinamese Winti religion, translating them into powerful narrative images that also carry a degree of mysticism. In dialogue, Nana Efua and Linger talk more about Winti and, among other things, the indigenous and air winti (gods). They are accompanied by Winti music group ‘Warimbo Krioro’ with singing and apinti - a musical instrument that recurs in several of Jaasir Linger's works. And stop by the bar for Fernandes and Surinamese snacks.
- From 20:30 until 20:50 at the Rear Courtyard
Performance Draft for Review
Draft for Review is a performance by Cathleen Owens, developed in collaboration with Katerina Sidorova. Unfolding entirely inside a projected document, the piece is part research notes, part stage directions, part self-corrections. Administrative work starts to resemble puppetry, shaped by systems of power that appear cooperative yet turn every “helpful” gesture into a command.
- From 21:00 until 21:10 uur in the Auditorium
Talk Marjolein Ossewaarde
Katerina invites curator and activist Marjolein Ossewaarde. Marjolein will discuss art as a tool for propaganda. Using examples currently in use in The Netherlands and within her own practices, she will dive into the implementation of protest and solidarity practices within cultural work.
- From 21:30 till 21:45 in the Pape Hall
Reading performance Quinn Zeljak
Larissa Esvelt invites Quinn Zeljak. In her latest research, Zeljak focused on disabilities and the post-apocalypse, and how bodies relate to their environment in sometimes antagonistic relationships. Textiles are a recurring material in her practice. She will recite some of her texts alongside works by Larissa Esvelt.
- From 21.00 till 21.15 in the Leiden Room
Performative workshop Museum Cartographies: Tracing Senses and Boundaries
Larissa Esvelt also invited Asrafun nahar Ruhin. She will host the performatieve workshop Museum Cartographies: Tracing Senses and Bourndaries.
